I'll post a proper update soon, but for now this is a plea to the folks on my friendslist who live in or know someone in the U.S.A.:

I volunteer with a high school foreign exchange organization called AFS.  I have studied abroad and hosted a student through this program, and both experiences were life-changing.  Through these experiences, I have learned so much about myself, my family, my culture, and other cultures around the world.

At this point in time, we are still looking for U.S. host families for around 300 international students.  Any students that are not assigned to families by August 31 will not be allowed to come to the U.S. to study abroad, an experience many have been planning and looking forward to for years.  These students will be left wondering if something is wrong with them or their home country that has made them unplaceable, as well as be forced to explain to their family and friends why they must stay at home.

Please talk to your families, friends, neighbors, acquaintances, etc. about hosting an exchange student.  Even if a family can only commit to a few weeks, this will help tremendously.  You can find more information and the application here: http://www.afsusa.org/host-family/.

I'm looking for a beta for my [livejournal.com profile] khr_undercover  fic.  It's only about halfway finished, and I don't need to turn it in to the mods until July 17th, but I wanted to see if I could find a victim volunteer before it's too late.  For the sake of secrecy (since that's what the fest is all about), I'll send you more information about the fic by PM if you want to help out and give you a chance to decide if you're really up to it.

Thanks!

beta?

Hey, anyone up for betaing 5,000 words of Gokudera-centric angst before khrfest next week?  It's got some 8059 and not so 8059 parts, too.  Uh, and character deaths.  I'd really like some feed back on the style (which is all over the place) and Gokudera's Gokudera-ness.  I feel like I made him kind of a wuss :/

So...help?  /puppy eyes

Hey guys!  I was wondering if anyone would be willing to beta a 2,500 word 8059 fic written for [info]hanashiki's  anthology?  The rating is PG-13 for potty mouths and drunken antics.  Why do I like writing drunk people so much? orz

ETA: Also, does anyone out there have any basic medical knowledge?  For another fic, I'm trying to figure out how to write about treatment for a punctured lung that resulted from a gunshot wound.  I did a google search, and it seems like surgery to remove the bullet, a chest tube to help reinflate the lung, a ventilator until normal breathing resumes, and antibiotics, all during a short hospital stay would be used, but I seriously have no idea if this is overkill or not enough.  So, any ideas?
